Fabricated and delivered with care from DAWS “the trade aluminium supplier you can rely on”
‘Fabricated with care’ is the ethos running through everything that leading aluminium manufacturer DAWS offers to its customers. From aluminium windows and doors to new products joining the portfolio from October, the North West-based fabricator continues to grow as it aspires to be ‘our customers’ favourite supplier’.
In just six years, DAWS has grown from a small start-up to a business employing 60 people from its Knowsley site, supplying a range of aluminium products to the trade only. High quality aluminium bifolding, patio and entrance doors, windows, lantern roofs and steel look products are among the expanding range delivered across the North West, North Wales, Yorkshire and as far south as Coventry.
From October 2024, an exciting new range of complementary aluminium products - verandas, car ports, fencing and side gates will be added to what DAWS can offer its growing installer base, giving its trade customers additional sales and profit opportunities with their existing customer base, and even while they are onsite on their current project.
Headed by an experienced senior management team, DAWS’s philosophy is to offer its customers ‘a headache-free life when it comes to ordering your trade aluminium and steel look products’. Support packages for installers include a high-quality suite of showroom and marketing materials and personalised social media videos that they can upload to their channels.
Investment in technology, from barcode scanning of raw materials through each stage of the manufacturing process to delivery, has been key in implementing efficiencies as the business grows. The company says it is ‘taking all the best bits from PVC-U manufacturing and bringing it to the world of aluminium’, with the aim of making the purchase of aluminium products as seamless as PVC.
Phill Cresswell, Sales Director at DAWS elaborates further, explaining: “We understand that aluminium is a relatively new product to a lot of PVC installers, so that’s why we offer technical support throughout the process, such as simplified technical data sheets showing all the main details that customers will ask about - flooring levels, configurations, handle options, etc.”
DAWS support also includes assisted fits from their service engineers to train installation teams and sales training for retail sales teams with aluminium product USPs and ‘reasons to choose’ for retail purchasers.
“Our mindset is very much one of ‘saying yes, we can do’,” continues Phill. “We may be a relatively young company but with a lot of experience embedded throughout our team, we are large enough to cope, yet small enough to care and be enthusiastic about what we can offer the industry!”
Manufacturing from a four-acre site affords plenty of room for a generous stockholding allowing DAWS to offer speedy lead times. The company’s 60-strong workforce includes the five company directors, some of whom work the shopfloor on a daily basis, which contributes to maintaining the company culture, and quality-led, can-do approach that DAWS customers love.
Phill says: “We’ve brought all the best parts of the PVC culture to aluminium, that is - quick turnaround, simplified product offering, improved marketing, better customer service and communication. It’s something our trade customers really appreciate.
“For PVC fabricators wanting to offer their customers aluminium, partnering with DAWS offers another string to their bow without the hassle of setting up manufacturing themselves. They also benefit from the trust their customers have with them. As we don’t manufacture PVC-U products, we are not in competition with them.”
On the product front, DAWS recently launched its “all aluminium” Signature Door collection. Designed to provide residential installers with a stylish, robust and hassle-free composite door – the company believes this is truly the first composite door that gives hard working installers a fit-and-forget product they can trust.
Available in eight of the most popular styles, the PAS24-compliant Signature Door range is manufactured using a strong aluminium-faced slab, ensuring tough and durable panels. At 63mm, it is 30% thicker than standard GRP composite doors and provides installers with a clear sales benefit compared to other PVC/Composite doors on the market, but finally at a comparable price point.
With no more colour fading, no more hinges dropping, and no more bowing doors, thanks to its industry first “No Bow Guarantee, the Signature Door range is proving popular. Every Signature Door comes with a 10-year manufacture guarantee and a hefty 25-year Qualicoat powder coating guarantee on the paint finish.
To ensure that every Signature Door is delivered in pristine condition, there’s a small electronic device called a ‘Shock Dot’ attached to the packaging. This clever alarm records whether the product has been inadvertently dropped or knocked during handling which means the product can be delivered nationwide with confidence.
Phill adds: “If you want a trade aluminium supplier that you can rely on, that fabricates and delivers with care, then DAWS is for you!”
